Our SEEAWA Away Weekend at St Katharine’s, Limehouse

Our SEEAWA Away Weekend at St Katharine’s, Limehouse

In October, the SEEAWA team comprising staff, trustees, and volunteers gathered at the peaceful setting of St Katharine’s in Limehouse for our residential Away Weekend. Amid the serene gardens and historic surroundings, we stepped away from day-to-day operations to focus on our shared vision, collective strength, and the future of our movement.

A central highlight of the weekend was our deep dive into Systems Change training. Together, we explored transformative approaches to how we lead, organize, and work with power examining how we can actively dismantle traditional top-down dynamics and instead build horizontal, accountable, and community-rooted structures.

By mapping the vast skills, lived experiences, and cultural knowledge present across our staff, board, and volunteer base, we reaffirmed that our greatest asset is our collective wisdom. From grassroots organizing and ancestral healing to governance and strategic advocacy, the talent within SEEAWA is both diverse and deeply aligned.

Equipped with fresh insights on power dynamics and collaborative leadership, we return from Limehouse rejuvenated, connected, and ready to drive meaningful, systemic change for our community!
